This yearfs forum, now in its 6th consecutive year, will focus on issues that will impact not only financial institutions, but Japanfs capital market as a whole. The first part of the conference will focus on the importance of corporate governance, and timely disclosure (provision of Market Data, CA). It will also cover new asset management trends incorporating corporate governance as we hear from the largest pension fund, in the U.S., CalPERS on their views of Japan. It will also cover new deregulations affecting the financial business scene, such as the new ehIndependent Agent Broker Systemh allowing banks and other intermediaries to sell securities products and funds, as well as the gRemoval of the Full Deposit Guaranteeh, put forth by the Japanese government to reduce Japanfs great savings and investment imbalance. These new reforms and asset management trends will be supported by the most recent banking and securities systems and technology, which will be introduced in the latter half of the forum. Whilst other countries seemed to slow their pace with STP after the postponement of T+1, the Japanese government has approved and passed a law that enforces all stock certificates to become paperless by the year 2009. The same are in the process to be implemented for other fund products and corporate bonds. New guidelines, internal procedures and system implementation will have to be put in place to make the 2009 dead line. Along with deregulation and reforms to promote investment, Japanese authorities are also tightening their privacy policy, compliance guidelines to protect investors, which will also be introduced in the latter part of the event. Donft miss out on this yearfs comprehensive update on Japanfs financial reforms and leading technology solutions!
